Obama the Cyber Snowman

In the short period of time that Barack Obama has occupied the public spotlight we have learned a number of important things about him. And although we have yet to learn if he is an American citizen, an Indonesian citizen, or if he holds dual US-British citizenship, we have learned one very important thing about his anatomy: if his lips are moving...chances are he’s lying.

Never in the history of the United States have we ever witnessed a political regime so blatantly corrupt and dishonest. Throughout the campaign he quickly gained fame for saying whatever his audience of the moment wished to hear. Those who opposed his candidacy understood what he was doing, and we understood that his radical left handlers were not only writing the words that he read so skillfully from his teleprompter, they were playing the most cynical sort of racial politics in order to advance his candidacy.

And when it became clear that his campaign was being financed illegally by foreign contributors, with donations brought into the country and reported to the FEC in the name of U.S. citizens, often without their knowledge or complicity; and when it was learned that millions of $10 and $20 money orders were being distributed among American Muslims, with the understanding that the money would be donated to Obama, the crime was so massive that there were not enough lawyers in the FEC, the FBI, and the Justice Department combined to investigate or prosecute it.

Since being sworn into office, Obama has broken, one-by-one, nearly every campaign promise he made regarding the conduct of the War on Terror... or Overseas Contingency Operations, as his Homeland Security nutcases prefer to call it. While having condemned George W. Bush and Dick Cheney for their efforts to protect Americans, even to the point of equating them to Adolph Hitler, Obama has now adopted all but a few of the Bush-Cheney policies.

He has announced his intention to try GITMO detainees in military tribunals; he has expanded the NSA’s warrantless wiretap program, extending it to communications between American citizens... with the promise that information obtained about American citizens will not be made public (wink, wink); and he has reserved unto himself the right to order the "torture” of enemy combatants in the event of a future need to do so. Further, it can be predicted with a high degree of certainty that, within the coming weeks and months, Obama will also reverse himself on his promise to close the GITMO facility.

However, in an attempt to either do damage to the United States or to former president Bush and his administration, Obama has undeniably given aid and comfort to our enemies by declassifying and publishing internal CIA/Justice Department memoranda detailing the methods of enhanced interrogation used by the CIA to gain information from jihadists.

What is remarkable is that he does it all apparently without experiencing a twinge of conscience... a feat that can be accomplished only by a man totally devoid of conscience.

In responding to a questioner in a recent public forum, a question relating to the process of receiving assistance with a mortgage foreclosure problem, Obama directed the questioner to the administration’s official website: MakingHomeAffordable.gov.

The website contains the official seals of both the U.S. Treasury Department and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, indicating that it is an official administration website. However, some who have used the site to seek assistance with an imminent foreclosure problem have found that, after responding to the preliminary screening questions contained on the website, they’ve received a telephone call from a private law firm asking for more details.

After providing the required information, one troubled homeowner told of receiving a return call from the law firm saying that they felt they could be of assistance... for a fee. After providing the attorney with an initial $1,000 retainer, agreeing to pay the remainder of the fee when refinancing was finalized, the homeowner sat back to await developments. However, the next call from the law firm was to advise him that, upon further reflection, the lawyers would not be able to help him. And when the homeowner requested the return of his $1,000 retainer, that request was denied.

It appears that someone in the Obama Administration is selling names and telephone numbers of individuals with foreclosure problems who respond to the HUD/Treasury Department website.

Within days of taking office, Obama announced that he was stripping the Department of Commerce of its traditional responsibility to conduct the 2010 decennial census, causing Commerce Secretary-designate Judd Gregg (R-NH) to withdraw his name from consideration. However, after having announced that he intended to have his chief of staff, Chicago machine politician Rahm Emanuel, supervise the conduct of the census from the White House, Obama faced a firestorm of protest and was forced to retreat.

However, his plan to "partner” with the corrupt civic action group, ACORN, to conduct the census remains unchanged. With ACORN volunteers, men and women highly skilled in voter registration and election fraud, acting as census enumerators, it remains to be seen how many vacant lots in heavily Democratic areas will suddenly reappear as high rise apartment buildings in Census Bureau data bases... and all filled to capacity with voting age men and women, ready to register as Democratic "ghost” voters.

In more recent weeks, the bankrupt Chrysler Corporation has announced that it would seek permission from the bankruptcy court to abrogate franchise agreements with 789 of its 3,181 dealers, many of them profitable dealerships. A spokesman for Obama has said that these decisions were being made by Chrysler, however Chrysler has denied the allegation. According to a WorldNetDaily investigation, Chrysler is no longer being operated as an independent private-sector company. Instead, it is being run by a task force appointed by the White House.

Given the Obama Administration’s record of political corruption, it is likely that the latter is true... especially when one considers that more than 90% of those dealers who are being disfranchised contributed money to John McCain and the Republican Party in the 2008 election.

According to a story by Kenneth Timmerman of NewsMax.com, a comprehensive review of the 789 dealerships scheduled for closing, comparing them to Federal Election Commission records, shows that owners of those 789 dealerships contributed more than $450,000 to Republican presidential candidates and the GOP. Senator Hillary Clinton received $7,970, John Edwards received $2,200, and Obama received a combined total of only $450.

As they say, elections have consequences... especially when corrupt Democrats win.

Finally, in a May 29 statement from the East Room of the White House, Obama announced the creation of a new White House Office of Cybersecurity, headed by a "cybersecurity czar,” to coordinate all federal government efforts to protect public sector and private sector computer data bases from cyber attack, to orchestrate and integrate all cybersecurity policies for the government, and to coordinate our response in the event of a major cyber incident or attack.

But then he proceeded to scare the pants off every freedom-loving American. He announced that the Office of Cybersecurity "will also include an official with a portfolio specifically dedicated to safeguarding the privacy and civil liberties of the American people.”

He concluded by saying, "Let me also be clear about what we will not do. Our pursuit of cyber security will not -- I repeat, will not -- include monitoring private sector networks or Internet traffic. We will preserve and protect the personal privacy and civil liberties that we cherish as Americans. Indeed, I remain firmly committed to net neutrality so we can keep the Internet as it should be -- open and free.”

So what are we to think of Obama’s plans for the Office of Cybersecurity as it relates to the Internet privacy of the American people... particularly those who are among his harshest critics? Was it all just a cyber snow job? All we know for certain is that his lips were moving when he gave assurances that his agents would not be monitoring our personal Internet communications. However, given what we know of Obama and the sort of people he surrounds himself with, we should not be surprised if he does precisely what he says he will not do.

The fact that he took pains to deny any evil intent tells us that he not only understands, but has considered the political implications of Internet monitoring. Anyone who takes his assurances at face value is smoking something much stronger than Marlboros.
