R.I.P. LB Neal
Frank Salvato October 10, 2012
“The grave itself is but a covered bridge, leading from light to light, through a brief darkness!”
– Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, The Golden Legend
It is with a tremendous amount of sadness that I received the news of the passing of LB Neal, or simply “Neal,” to those he chose to befriend. With his passing American patriots have lost a comrade and his brethren, of which I count myself, a dependable and true friend.
Neal died after a valiant battle with the evil cancer on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 11:50am in his Arizona home with his wife Pati at his side.
If you engaged in new media publishing long enough – and if you were open to honest criticism – you were bound to eventually cross Neal’s path. It wasn’t that his criticism was pointed, it was simply that he wanted to help each publisher – fledgling or accomplished – execute his abilities to the fullest extent. Neal was priceless in his support and efforts to NewMediaJournal.us in that respect, and to me, personally, in advancing my knowledge of the inner workings of online publications and Internet security.
Beyond, NewMediaJournal.us, he leant his knowledge and talent to many publications and individuals; his ultimate quest, to allow the everyman a voice in the battle to preserve our Constitutional Republic. To that end, Neal served his country well beyond his years in the US military. In fact, it could be said that he never left the service of his country.
In this jaded age of “me first,” humanity found in Neal someone who genuinely gave of himself; to friends, to strangers, to his country. In his passing the world is a lesser place. In his passing the new media has lost a pioneer and a mentor to those who choose to “fight the battles.” In his passing I have lost a teacher and a friend. The funny thing is this: in this age of Internet friendships and relationships, I never actually got to look Neal in the eye. I would have liked to do that if only to say thank you.
In the end, I wish I could have said goodbye in person. I regret not being able to do that.
To Neal’s wife Pati and to his family and close friends, I extend my most sincere condolences. Neal – LB Neal – will be missed.
