Obama Didn’t Build That,
But He’s Destroying It Just the Same

Greg Lewis
August 7, 2012
If there’s one thing NASA’s Mars landing early in the morning of August 6, reveals, it’s just how bent on destroying America Barack Obama is. It also reveals that it’s not just individual initiative and genius that are the targets of Obama’s subversive policies, it’s anything that stands in the way of Obama’s insistence on destroying everything American and in the process driving us into bankruptcy.

In this case, the government did build that space program, and Obama should be celebrating it. Instead, as he’s doing with our military, he cut NASA’s space shuttle funding to the point where three decades of extraordinary research and technological development are abandoned and the more than 7,400 NASA employees who created it are out of work.

He’s thrown away one of our government’s greatest achievements in the interest of saving a relative pittance. NASA’s total annual budget for the year 2009 -- the year Obama assumed office -- was $17.6 billion. Hell, the White House and its corrupt Department of Energy (DoE) approved more than $35 billion in federal loan green energy guarantees alone, most of the money going to crony capitalists whose companies had virtually no chance of surviving, let alone turning around America’s energy situation. Obama, with a stroke of the executive-order pen that derailed the Keystone XL Pipeline -- which would have instantly begun to reverse our stalled energy fortunes -- continues to do everything in his power to undermine our chances, not just of thriving economically but of surviving as the nation we’ve always been.

NASA celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2008, just before Obama closed down the space shuttle program. The list of technologies developed by our space program includes everything from the lithium batteries that power the very electric cars Obama promotes mercilessly to technologies that improve electronic circuit boards to welding technology that improves the efficiency of manufacturing processes. NASA has been a veritable technology incubator, and Obama’s curtailing its scope also negatively affects the development of key technologies that influence and improve so many other areas of scientific and technological development.

And speaking of the afore-mentioned military: You don’t think that Barack Obama actually expected the select committee of six Democrats and six Republicans to come up with a meaningful compromise to save military funding and avoid the disastrous sequester that looms ahead, do you?

In fact, there’s a reason Obama’s and Democrats’ policies focus on handing out money indiscriminately to American citizens, putting them on the dole and at the mercy of their government while at the same time cutting national security expenditures. The left’s policies have never been anything but a blind to seize power while at the same time quietly allying themselves with despotic anti-American regimes around the world. Since the public rise of American Marxism in the 1960s, Democrats have sought nothing less. Obama’s presidency is the culmination of that subversive agenda.

It’s no coincidence that among the primary targets of Obama’s ugly anti-American, destruction-through-eliminating-funding policies are those directly concerned with our national defense.

In addition to slashing military funding, he’s scrapped an Eastern Europe missile defense system set to be installed in Poland and the Czech Republic as a bow to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. In response, Putin has publicly ridiculed our president.

And Obama’s administration has leaked critical classified information from our involvement in the Stuxnet program that temporarily derailed Iran’s nuclear weapons development to the roles of our undercover operatives around the world. The administration did this in order to boast about the president’s “accomplishments,” when the main thing he accomplished by this treasonous activity was putting our field operatives at risk and undermining the effectiveness of our counter-terror strategy around the world.

In the meantime, GM posts “record profits” while its stock nosedives and it still owes American taxpayers at least $35 billion in bailout funding, which we’ll never see, by the way. In the bargain, the unions and other Obama cronies moved ahead of GM bondholders, the rightful first recipients of bailout repayment, in a blatant disregard for the law.

The Obama administration is a lawless administration. Obama either does not know or willfully ignores the Constitution, and he tramples on established law at every opportunity. His presidency-by-executive-fiat has brought our country to the edge of bankruptcy and closer to the end of our global military supremacy.

I know that Mitt Romney and his campaign operatives can’t come right out and say it, but Barack Obama is nothing less than a traitor to America, that he and his cohorts are determined to undermine the accomplishments that make us the bellwether of freedom around the world and to substitute instead policies and dicta that put not only our nation but the rest of the free world at grave risk. He’s doing this intentionally in order to act out his and his leftist confederates’ hatred of this country.

But unless Romney and his campaign find a way to get this message forcefully across to the American people -- to make them understand that we’re on the “Eve of Destruction” -- we risk the loss of everything we hold dear at the hands of the most corrupt and anti-American presidency this country has ever had to endure.
