Obama’s Pre-Election Assault on Latinos & Hispanics
Greg Lewis
June 26, 2012
When the polls swing in Romney’s direction, Eric Holder and the Obama campaign swing into action. Rather than address the administration’s economic and foreign policy plays that have doomed the economic recovery and led the world into political turmoil in the absence of American leadership, they attack states’ attempts to remove illegitimate voters from their rolls. At the same time they’re enabling the population of voter rolls to swell with illegal Hispanic and Latino immigrants, Obama and Holder continue to defraud this demographic by attempting to conceal their roles in Operation Fast & Furious, the policy that allowed high-powered weapons to be “walked” from the US into Mexico.

Eric Holder’s assault on states’ voter registration laws is nothing more than a naked attempt to make sure ineligible voters -- collectively one of the Democrats’ most important constituencies -- can participate in the November election and thus improve Democratic electoral prospects. In addition to illegal immigrants, most of whom are from Mexico and South America, the many other Democrat constituencies protected by these actions are dead people, people who vote at least twice, people who never existed, people who have been convicted of felonies, and anyone else who is glaringly ineligible to vote.

Nothing exposes the blatant hypocrisy of the DOJ attempt to forestall the clean-up of voter rolls until after the election more clearly than the fact that Barack Obama demanded that attendees to his recent Ohio campaign rally show ID in order to be admitted. The Obama campaign’s Ohio Press Secretary explained just how rigorous the attendee vetting procedure was: "We checked every ID at the door to make sure it matched with the name on the ticket that supporters filled out," she said. "We did this for every person who came in." As Breitbart’s Dana Loesch wonders, “No word yet on whether Attorney General Eric Holder plans to file suit against the Obama campaign for infringing upon Ohioans’ right of peaceful assembly by way of a racist photo ID rule.”

This checking of photo IDs at this campaign stop is more than 39 states do in order to protect the integrity of their elections.

Beyond this hypocrisy, the Obama administration is laboring to get its message out: As long as you’re Latino/Hispanic and in this country illegally, the administration has your back, or so it would appear. A closer look reveals a much different picture.

The Obama administration has deported some 1.2 million Latino illegal immigrants, more than any other administration in history. It appears, though, that the Latino and Hispanic communities are beginning to see through Obama’s transparently political ploy in declaring what amounts to amnesty for illegals under the age of 30 with no criminal records. While Obama trumpeted his unconstitutional amnesty play, it’s becoming an increasingly common complaint among Latinos that “Obama failed to deliver on his pledge four years ago...that he would make comprehensive immigration reform a priority from day one of his presidency.” Instead, he spent his political capital and legislative majorities in the House and Senate passing ObamaCare while ignoring immigration law.

But it may be Operation Fast & Furious that is Obama’s most egregious offense against the Latino/Hispanic community. Jorge Ramos, a journalist at the Spanish television network Univision and a prominent voice in his community, has repeatedly asked who was responsible for Fast & Furious. Ramos recognizes the tragedy endured by Mexican people as a result of this operation.

The answer to Ramos’s question is simple: Both Attorney General Eric Holder and Barack Obama have been directly involved in Fast & Furious, one of the most disturbing scandals in our history, since its inception more than three years ago.

F&F has led directly to the deaths of more than 500 Mexican citizens, who perished at the hands of drug cartel members wielding some of the more than 20,000 high-powered assault weapons Holder’s ATF allowed to be “walked” from the US into Mexico...with no oversight whatsoever.

Obama talked about this program himself, mentioning “gun tracing” less than two months after his inauguration, in a joint press conference with then-Mexican President José Calderon. On March 24, 2009, Deputy Attorney General David Ogden officially announced the plan in a news conference, saying that “the president has directed us to take action to fight these cartels, and Attorney General Holder and I are taking several new and aggressive steps as part of the administration’s comprehensive plan.” Ogden made it clear that “gun tracing” would be an important component of the operation. A little more than a week later, Holder himself told an audience in Cuernavaca, Mexico, that he was committing additional agents in order to “supplement our ongoing Project Gunrunner.” Further, taxpayer money in the form of stimulus funds was used to underwrite the operation!

Perhaps fearing that his role in the deaths of hundreds of innocent Mexicans was known to his audience, at a recent luncheon of the National Association of Latino Elected Officials (NALEO), the president had the Secret Service confiscate all the forks of the attendees before he addressed the group.

In fact, Obama is essentially extorting votes from the Hispanic and Latino communities. With his amnesty pronouncement, he’s telling them “Re-elect me and this policy will remain in force and young people will be free from the threat of deportation.” That’s because if the president is defeated, what amounts to an executive order will lapse upon Romney’s inauguration.

But with his attempts to conceal his own and his Attorney General’s direct involvement in Fast & Furious, he himself is committing voter fraud against one of his important constituencies, and the Hispanic and Latino communities continue to ignore it at their own peril.
