It’s Time to Speak the ‘I-Word’
Paul R. Hollrah
August 2, 2011
Historians tell us that, on July 1, 1776, John Adams wrote a letter to his wife, Abigail. As a member of the Committee of Five selected to draft the Declaration of Independence, he was intimately aware of the power and significance of the document and was anticipating that he would sign the document on July 2. In his letter, he said:

“The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.”

Although Adams missed the actual signing date by two days, he knew exactly the significance of what he was about to do. Now, just eighteen months from the day when we will inaugurate a Republican successor to Barack Obama, can we safely predict that, in the hearts and minds of American patriots, January 20, 2013 will be celebrated in perpetuity as the second national day of deliverance, just as Adams predicted the significance of July 4, 1776?

The question is, will Obama last that long? Will he finally be called upon to tell us who he really is? And if he can’t, or won’t, will one or more of the states bar him from the ballot in November 2012? At the very least, the time has finally come to speak the I-word...impeachment.

In a March 13 piece titled “Sayings of Chairman Maobama,” Michael Goodwin writes,

“First I did a double take. He said what? I read it again and the shock waves followed.” According to a New York Times report quoting anonymous Obama aides, “A beleaguered President Obama has told aides it would be so much easier to be the president of China.”

Is there a doubt in anyone’s mind that, when Obama stands before the mirror in the Oval Office, he sees not a president, an administrator, he sees a dictator? Given Obama’s refusal to take the lead on critical national and international issues, Goodwin sees two ways to read the remark by his aides:

“One is that Obama resents the burden of global leadership that comes with the American presidency. The other is that he longs for an authoritarian system, where he need tolerate no dissent. Under either or both interpretations, his confession carries a dose of self-pity that means Obama has hit a wall. He is in over his head, and he knows it.”

No matter what the issue...the national debt; riots in Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and Yemen; the mass murder of Libyan dissidents by Qaddafi; the war in Afghanistan; illegal immigration; rising gasoline prices; unemployment; an uncooperative Republican Congress; and a host of appears as though the most important thing on Obama’s mind is how he could have missed an eighteen inch putt on the eighteenth hole at Congressional, where he and Michelle will take the girls for their next vacation, or how he’s going to get reelected in 2012.

As Goodwin sees it, “His responses range from halfhearted to wrongheaded,” but Goodwin is far too generous. It is more accurate to say that Obama is not even voting “present” on all these issues. He is, in fact, absent from the scene...nowhere to be found. Instead of leading, he has abdicated his role.

So what do we do about a man who has done nothing but damage on every front since the day he took office? Upon assuming the office on January 20, 2009, Obama swore an oath as follows:

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

A number of questions arise. What did Obama mean when he said “solemnly swear?” Swear an oath before whom? What did he mean by “faithfully execute?” Faithful to whom...George Soros? And what did he mean by the words, “to the best of my ability?” Has anyone stopped to consider the frightening thought that, yes, Obama has performed to the best of his ability?

In the thirty months he has occupied the Oval Office he has shown little ability to do what is necessary or proper. When he spoke the words, “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States,” he had one hand on the Holy Bible. Was his other hand behind his back with his fingers crossed?

In a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed, Peggy Noonan speculates on the feelings of liberals who supported Obama in 2008. She says,

“So he is losing a battle in which he had superior forces – the presidency, the U.S. senate. In the process he revealed that his foes have given him too much mystique. He is not a devil, an alien, a socialist. He is a loser. And this is America, where nobody loves a loser.”

Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution stipulates that,

“The President, Vice President, and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on impeachment for, and conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.”

There is no doubt that Obama must be removed from office. From the day he took the Oath of Office, almost every official act has been harmful to the country, either in the short term or in the long term. He appears no more able to exercise the office he occupies than the average fourth-grader. He has no apparent knowledge of how the capitalist system operates; he has no concept of how private sector jobs are created. In his demented world, it is government that creates jobs.

In a July 22, 2010 article in The Washington Times, a newspaper published, distributed, and read in a city surrounding the White House, writer Jeffrey T. Kuhner tells us that,

“(Obama) is slowly – piece by piece – erecting a socialist dictatorship. We are not there – yet. But he is putting America on that dangerous path. He is undermining our constitutional system of checks and balances; subverting democratic procedures and the rule of law; presiding over a corrupt, gangster regime; and assaulting the very pillars of traditional capitalism.”

In what has to be the unkindest cut of all against Richard Nixon, Kuhner tells us that,

“Like Venezuela’s leftist strongman, Hugo Chavez, Mr. Obama is bent on imposing a revolution from above – one that is polarizing America along racial, political, and ideological lines. Mr. Obama is the most divisive president since Richard Nixon. His policies are Balkanizing the country…”

He goes on to say,

“He has abused his office and violated his oath to uphold the Constitution. His healthcare overhaul was rammed through Congress. It was – and remains – opposed by a majority of the people. It could only be passed through bribery and political intimidation...

“To provide the shock troops for his socialist takeover, Mr. Obama calls for ‘comprehensive immigration reform’ – granting amnesty to 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens. This would forge a permanent Democratic electoral majority. It would sound the death knell for our national sovereignty…

“Rather than defending our homeland, Mr. Obama’s Justice Department has sued Arizona for its immigration law. He is siding with criminals against his fellow Americans. His actions desecrate his constitutional oath to protect U.S. citizens from enemies foreign and domestic. He is thus encouraging more illegal immigration as Washington refuses to protect our borders. Mr. Obama’s decision on this case is treasonous…”

The grounds for Obama’s impeachment are numerous, not the least of which is the Justice Department’s program to supply the murderous Mexican drug cartels with thousands of deadly weapons...weapons that have been used to murder hundreds of Mexican citizens and at least one U.S. border patrol officer. Past presidents have been accused of serious wrongdoing, but unlike Obama, none have been complicit in mass murder.

Jeffery Kuhner writes,

“Corruption in the administration is rampant. Washington no longer has a government; rather, it has a gangster regime. The Chicago way has become the Washington way...He is the most consequential president in our lifetime, transforming America into something our Founding Fathers would find not only unrecognizable, but repugnant.”

Ms. Noonan, is only partially correct. Yes, Obama is a loser, but he is also a devil, an alien, and a socialist and it’s time to impeach him and remove him from office. The question is, do we have people on the House Judiciary Committee with the courage to do what must be done? Do we have people with the courage to impeach a black president, or are they telling us that black Americans live under a totally different set of rules than non-blacks?.

At the very least, it’s time to let Obama know that, in spite of what he might think, he is not exempt from the rule of law. It is time to speak the I-word.

It’s time to speak the I-word.
