About Andrew C. McCarthy

Andrew C. McCarthy is a senior fellow at the National Review Institute and a contributing editor at National Review. For 18 years, Andy was an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York. He held several executive staff positions and, in 1995, led the terrorism prosecution against Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman and eleven others in connection with the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and a plot to bomb New York City landmarks. In his final five years in the Justice Department, he was the Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney of the Southern District’s satellite office in White Plains. He also continued to make major contributions to national-security cases, including the investigation of the 1998 bombings of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. Following the 9/11 attacks, he supervised the Justice Department’s Command Post near Ground Zero in New York City.
